I just can’t get back into the topic of weather. I just don’t know what I will do with this blog. However I figured I’d come on today and post something disturbing and not so uncommon I heard the other day. Earlier this week there was a record number of tornadoes dropped in Illinois for the month of November and among these drops was one really big monster: an EF4. I was driving in my Xterra going home at the time and my EMS/Fire scanner app on my phone alerted me to a major event happening in the US…so naturally I flipped off the radio and listened the the Fire and EMS Departments in Illinois do their thing. After the EF4 was out of the area or gone, I never did find out, the crew went out to survey the damage and start the rescue operations required. Quite a few homes we’re entirely annihilated to put it accurately. However response was slowed down and stopped by storm response’s most common enemy: tourists. At one point I heard on the radio a stressed EMT trying to explain to dispatch how their ambulance could not pass a major highway because there we’re so many gawkers out in their personal vehicles playing storm chaser. Look guys, I get it, I really do, I like heading out in a storm in my Xterra and finding the action too….but you have to be smart about it. You cannot block EMS and Fire and even park on major roadways where you may delay or hinder traffic. You cannot put yourself in harms way. By doing this you give the rest of us a very bad name and an even worse reputation. So here’s a video for everyone to share. As for me – it’s cold, nothing is happening, I’m not even sure I have the interest to continue this blog…I’ve been MIA for months at a time only to return to promise new activity and then go MIA again. I just cannot get into the topic of blogging. So look for updates and we’ll see if I’ll carry this on or not!
